Architecture in the desert serves one primary purpose: to provide shelter from a harsh environment, both functionally and psychologically. The cone-shaped form above the living spaces acts as a massive lid, casting shade over the desert floor. The ribbed structure makes a respectful nod to Taliesin West, while the stepped parapets draw inspiration from southwestern Pueblo vernacular. The round, bermed form of the media room evokes the Kiva—a space for communal gathering.
